Anne J. MacArthur was a teacher for 36 years, a business woman and Milton’s only female Mayor. Anne entered politics in 1965 serving as Councillor, Deputy-Reeve, Reeve, Warden and Milton Mayor. She always worked hard on behalf of her students and constituents. She was a strong advocate to stop defacing the Escarpment – our heritage. In 2013 she was recognized in the naming of a public school ‘A. J. MacArthur School’. It should be noted that our new council will now have two new women sitting around the council table!
